Data Settings → Obsidian Configuration

Cherry Studio supports integration with Obsidian, allowing you to export a full conversation or a single conversation to an Obsidian vault.

This process does not require installing any additional Obsidian plugins. However, because the principle Cherry Studio uses to import into Obsidian is similar to Obsidian Web Clipper, it is recommended that users upgrade Obsidian to the latest version (the current Obsidian version should be at least greater than 1.7.2), to avoid import failure caused by a conversation being too long.

Compared with the old version of exporting to Obsidian, the new Export to Obsidian feature can automatically select the vault path, no longer requiring manual entry of the vault name or folder name.

Step 1: Configure Cherry Studio

Open Cherry Studio'sSettings → Data Settings → Obsidian Configurationmenu; the drop-down list will automatically show the names of Obsidian vaults that have been opened on this computer. Select your target Obsidian vault:

Step 2: Export the conversation

Return to the conversation interface in Cherry Studio, right-click the conversation, and selectExport, clickExport to Obsidian:

A window will pop up to adjust the Properties,located in Obsidian folder location as well as the processing method for exporting to Obsidian:

• Vault: Click the drop-down menu to select another Obsidian vault
• Path: Click the drop-down menu to select the folder where the exported conversation note will be stored
• As Obsidian note properties (Properties):

  • Tags
  • Created time (created)
  • Source (source)
• The processing method for exporting to Obsidian has the following three options:

  • New (overwrite if it exists): switch between Path entered in the folder Create a new conversation note in the folder entered here; if a note with the same name already exists, it will overwrite the old note
  • Prefix: If a note with the same name already exists, export and append the selected conversation content to the beginning of that note
  • Append: If a note with the same name already exists, export and append the selected conversation content to the end of that note

Only the first method will include Properties; the latter two methods will not include Properties.

After selecting all options, click OK to export the full conversation to the corresponding folder in the corresponding Obsidian vault.

For exporting a single conversation, click thethree-line menu, chooseExport, clickExport to Obsidian:

below the conversation; a window similar to the one for exporting a full conversation will also pop up, asking you to configure note properties and the note processing method, and just follow the tutorial above to complete it.

Old tutorial (applicable to Cherry Studio < v1.1.13)

Step 1: Prepare Obsidian

Open the Obsidian vault and create afolder(the image uses the Cherry Studio folder as an example):

Note the text boxed in the lower-left corner; this is your Vault name.

Step 2: Configure Cherry Studio

In Cherry Studio's [Settings] → [Data] → [Obsidian Configuration], just select Default Obsidian vault: Cherry Studio will automatically detect the Obsidian vaults already on this computer; just select the one you want to use from the drop-down list.

Only the default vault is set here.The specific folder to save to and what tags to add are selected in the [Configure note properties] dialog that pops up each time you export(see the next step); there is no need to fill them in beforehand in Settings. If the drop-down shows "No Obsidian vault found", please first confirm that Obsidian is installed on this computer and that at least one vault has been created.

Step 3: Export conversation

Return to the conversation interface in Cherry Studio, right-click the conversation, and selectExport, clickExport to Obsidian.

A window will pop up to adjust the Properties, and the processing method. In the export to Obsidian processing method for exporting to Obsidian has the following three options:

• New (overwrite if it exists): switch between Step 2 filled in folder Create a new conversation note in the folder entered here; if a note with the same name already exists, it will overwrite the old note
• Prefix: If a note with the same name already exists, export and append the selected conversation content to the beginning of that note
• Append: If a note with the same name already exists, export and append the selected conversation content to the end of that note
