# Grok

Grok is a large model launched by xAI, known for its more casual tone + access to real-time X (Twitter) data.

## Get an API Key

* Go to [xAI Console](https://console.x.ai/) Register account
* `API Keys` → `Create API Key`, copy `xai-...` Key

## Configure in Cherry Studio

* Open `Settings → Model Services`, find **Grok** Provider to enter the details page
* **API key** Fill in `xai-...`
* **API address** Default `https://api.x.ai`, no need to modify
* Click **Get model list**, add `grok-4`、`grok-4-fast` and other models

## Recommended usage

| Model         | Suitable scenarios                                          |
| ------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------- |
| `grok-4` | The most powerful overall, the top choice for complex tasks |
| `grok-4-fast` | High-throughput, low-latency scenarios                      |
| `grok-3-mini` | Low-cost everyday conversations                             |

## Online search

Some Grok models come with built-in online access, and a small globe icon will appear after the model name. You can enable "online" directly in the chat box to use it; see [online mode](/docs/en-us/pre-basic/websearch.md).

{% hint style="info" %}

* Grok requires access via overseas networks; users in China should configure a proxy
* xAI provides a free quota (refreshed monthly), which is sufficient for everyday use
  {% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.cherryai.com.cn/docs/en-us/pre-basic/providers/grok.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
